Bigfoot Conference in Nebraska this weekend

The second annual Nebraska Bigfoot Crossroads of America Conference plans to leave a mark on Hastings this weekend.

By Kelli Rollin from The Grand Island Independent

The conference, which will be Friday and Saturday at the Hastings City Auditorium, aims to educate people on Bigfoot. Harriett McFeely founded the conference, which began in 2017.

Several speakers are set to give their expertise on Bigfoot throughout the weekend, including filmmaker Bob Gimlin.

Gimlin, 86, helped film the famous Patterson-Gimlin Bigfoot film, which has recorded footage of “Patty” walking down Bluff Creek in California. Gimlin will speak Saturday at 3:15 p.m., following the premiere of his new film “The Legend of Bigfoot.” The movie premiere begins at 1:45 p.m. Saturday.

The Bigfoot mania begins at 9 a.m. Friday with the first speaker, Tammy Lynne, scheduled to talk at 9:30 a.m. Lynne’s presentation is called “Wild Imaginations.”

After Lynne, Cassie Ogg will present “A look into the Timber,” and McFeely will present “What Happens When History Meets Science?”

All three women are Bigfoot researchers. Their studies and field experience include habituation areas in Central Nebraska and Bigfoot sighting locations along the Missouri River.

Mike Johnson, Richard Soule and Cliff Barackman are scheduled to speak during Friday’s afternoon sessions. Johnson is with the Sasquatch Investigations of the Rockies and Soule is an author and cryptid researcher of Sasquatch. Barackman is a sasquatch field reseracher and on Animal Planet’s “Finding Bigfoot” television series.

A meet and greet will be Friday at 6 p.m. with speakers. A town hall meeting with Barackman will follow at 7 p.m., with vendor tables, autographs and photos at 8 p.m.

Saturday’s first speaker at 9:30 a.m. is Craig Woolheater, who co-founded the Texas Bigfoot Research Center in 1999 and the Cryptozoology blogsite Cryptomundo in 2005. Woolheater has also organized the annual Texax Bigfoot Conference since 2001 and curated two Bigfoot museum exhibits and speaker series.

After Woolheater is Robin Roberts, Daniel Perez and Barackman.

Roberts is an investigator for Sasquatch Investigations of the Rockies. She often brings her dog, Roo, along on the hikes and investigations.

erez is the editor of the Bigfoot Times and author of “Bigfoot at Bluff Creek” and “Big Footnotes.”

Gimlin’s movie premiere and session will follow after Barackman’s discussion.
