Bigfoot Bonanza is coming! March 10 -12

A Bigfoot film festival is happening in San Francisco and some well know Bigfoot celebrities will be there!

Yeti fanatics and Bigfoot believers prepare: a film festival and conference dedicated to all things supernaturally large, furry, and humanoid is appearing at the Balboa Theatre in San Francisco this March.

The Bigfoot Bonanza, assembled by the "strange and unusual film" purveyors of the Super Shangri-La Show, will hold the event over three days, on March 10-12, 2017.

Speakers: Kathy Strain, Tom Yamarone and Cliff Barackman

Scheduled events include screenings of cult classic films and television shows, as well as live presentations by a few prominent Bigfoot researchers, like Cliff Barackman, who has appeared on Animal Planet on his quest to find the fuzzy monster, author Kathy Strain, and Livermore-based Tom Yamarone, the self-proclaimed "Bob Dylan of Bigfoot songs."

[Crypto Blast Editor's note; Craig Flipy will be there and he may have some footage of his long awaited sequel to his Bigfoot journal called, "Crappy Little Dreams".]

"Many of the Bigfoot conferences lately have been serious back-to-back speakers," wrote organizer and Super Shangri-La host Kai Wada Roath in an email to SFGATE. "Mine will have fun old movies, tacos and beer, so hopefully Bigfoot researchers who attend can all cut loose. They are a pretty crazy crowd." As Roath says, the inspiration for his work stems from an interest he's had in monsters for a long time.

"In 2000 I led an expedition in Nepal for the Yeti and I've been into monsters since I was a little shrimp," he says. "My hope for the event is that it brings a lot of people from different walks of life that all share the same interest together: Bigfoot. Plus, my motto is 'Support your local monster!'"

The schedule for the festival is now live, and will open with a Friday night reception on March 10 with live music, Mexican grub provided by Tacos Oscar, and beer brewed by Fort Point.

If all goes according to plan, Roath hopes to do it all again in 2018, with even more presenters. "I already have Bigfoot researchers/hunters who wanted to talk this year, but alas, I have a shoe-string budget," he adds. "Hopefully if this one goes well, they can be the speakers next year."

The Super Shangri-La Show is selling tickets both per day through the Balboa Theatre's website.

The Bigfoot Bonanza will take place at the Balboa Theatre at 3630 Balboa Street in San Francisco from March 10-12, 2017. Tickets are on sale now here.
