There have been more than 10,000 Bigfoot sightings “officially reported” since 1967 in the United States. This figure excludes all the reported sightings from other countries, and continents. Keep in mind that we’re only talking about documented reports, which constitute a tiny minority of actual encounters. Indeed, most people don’t file official reports of their sightings either because they don’t know they can or should report it, they don’t know how, to whom, or where to report it, or they simply want to avoid talking about it for fear of public ridicule. The culture of silliness that surrounds the Sasquatch phenomenon is a powerful deterrent to many who would otherwise be obliged to share their story. We can only speculate as to how many people keep their sightings private.
