Lovers of the spooky, spectral and phantasmic may want to schedule a trip to Avon this weekend for the grand opening of The Paranormal Outlet, New York’s first and only one stop shop for the supernatural enthusiast.

The store is the brainchild of business partners Barb Vagg and Ted VanSon, who’s also a paranormal investigator.
“We started this in May,” said VanSon, who is also the founder of Genesee Valley Paranormal Investigators, a ghost-hunting group. “That was when we decided we wanted to do it. Then a week later we started working toward that goal.”

“We started this in May,” said VanSon, who is also the founder of Genesee Valley Paranormal Investigators, a ghost-hunting group. “That was when we decided we wanted to do it. Then a week later we started working toward that goal.”
VanSon said he and Vagg have been getting questions about exactly what kind of merchandise they’ll be offering at the outlet.
“It’s concerning that people think we are Satanists,” said VanSon. “We are real-life ghost hunters and investigators. We spend most of our time volunteering (and) helping those that have ghostly problems or paranormal activity - we don’t get paid for what we do.”In addition to ghost-hunting gear, specialty t-shirts, tarot cards and books on the paranormal, the outlet will also have survival gear, hunting apparel, trail cameras and jewelry for sale among many other items.
Psychic readers will be at the outlet throughout the week and lectures and classes on an array of topics will be offered.
VanSon made clear that the outlet will in no way seek to promote or cater to any particular religious belief or faith.
“We offer a little bit for everyone,” he said.
The outlet, located right next to Avon Gun at 259 East Main Street, will have its grand opening July 1 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Visitors will be able to check out two Bigfoot casts donated by Cliff Barackman, a member of the cast of “Finding Bigfoot” on Animal Planet.
“You don’t get to see this stuff very often,” said Van Son. “It is a cast of an alleged Bigfoot foot and knuckles. They are on display only (and) are not for sale.”
Jack Kenna, a paranormal investigator known for his appearances on the “Haunted Case Files” and “Paranormal Survivor” television series will give a free lecture at 7 p.m. and will sign autographs afterwards.
Daniel Klaes owner of the Hinsdale House, known as New York’s most haunted, will also be on hand for a signing of his new book, “Hinsdale House an American Haunting,” which available for purchase on Amazon.com.
