Respected Bigfoot author, Scott Marlowe, wrote a great book called, "Bigfoot Enigma". He starts off his book quoting the Dakota Native Americans with their saying, "We will be known forever by the tracks we leave." Until recently, the main evidence is support of the existence of the animal were the may tracks found by woodsman in numerous remote locations and from time to time, nearby populated areas. This excerpt is about the behavioral traits of sasquatch.

Behavioral Traits
The reported behavior of Bigfoot has ranged from a relatively harmless response to humans to the absolutely abnormal. Typical encounters involve behaviors like tossing pebbles or wood from a distance, throwing feces, pacing a person or chasing someone. There are occasionally more aggressive contact behaviors involving shaking vehicles, and smacking or jostling buildings. Loud, resonant vocalizations are reported from time to time. In the case of the Florida Swamp Ape (AKA appropriately the "Skunk Ape") and in some Bigfoot sightings a pungent odor has also been reported. The Bili Ape, more often than not, makes no sound and silently slips away out of sight when confronted by a human.
The Florida Swamp Ape and the American Sasquatch share an intimidation behavior that is apparently related to territory defense. When a human encroaches on its territory it will silently pace the perceived foe up to the point of getting so close to its antagonist that it can hear Bigfoot breathing. Yet, it will generally not allow itself to be seen.
In 1971, David Holly and a friend were on an island in Broken Bow Lake near Paris, Texas when they noticed they were being followed. At first, the duo thought the animal could be a bear so they started to run toward their boat. But soon, they could hear heavy breathing behind them. Holley turned and saw that the pursuing animal was gorilla-like with reddish-brown hair color standing erect and about 7 feet in height.
The two men ran to their boat and quickly launched it into the lake. However, the creature followed them part way into the water before turning back toward land.E."°'.
I have a similar account of Florida Swamp Ape conduct in my files of this particular Bigfoot's territorial defense response. However, in this nocturnal case, the animal took great pains to remain out of sight...
